Clark Mills Tornado: Town Shattered, Hearts Broken, but Hope Rises in Recovery

On June 22, 2025, tragedy struck Clark Mills, New York, when a powerful EF-1 tornado tore through the town, carving a 2.4-mile path of destruction. With winds reaching 105 mph, the storm left behind shattered homes, uprooted trees—and broken hearts.

Among the three lives lost were six-year-old twin sisters, Emily and Kenni Bisson, who were at home with their mother, Kayleigh, when the tornado hit. Neighbors managed to pull Kayleigh to safety, but the sisters tragically did not survive. Another resident, Shelly Johnson, was also killed when her home was struck.

The Bisson family had only recently moved into the neighborhood, making the loss feel even heavier for those around them. đź’”

At Clinton Elementary, where Emily and Kenni were beloved first graders, grief counselors were brought in, and classes were paused as students and teachers tried to process the unthinkable.

Yet, amid the grief, the people of Clark Mills are coming together—sharing meals, opening homes, and raising funds to help those who lost everything. The road to recovery will be long, but the spirit of this community is unshaken.

✨ They may have lost so much, but they will rebuild—together.
