Benjamin Sesko swap deal suspicions as Man Utd ‘accept huge price drop’

“As Manchester United intensify their pursuit of RB Leipzig star Benjamin Šeško, whispers of a potential switch involving Rasmus Højlund have begun to circulate. But the Danish forward has made his position clear — he’s staying put and ready to fight for his place at Old Trafford.”

Manchester United Eye Sesko Deal Amid Højlund Uncertainty

Manchester United have reignited their interest in RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Šeško — and it’s stirring up fresh speculation about the future of Rasmus Højlund.

Šeško, who has rapidly risen to stardom in the Bundesliga at just 22, is reportedly at the top of new head coach Rúben Amorim’s wishlist, even ahead of Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins. United have admired the Slovenian since his Red Bull Salzburg days, and with his stock higher than ever, the Red Devils are once again pushing to land him.

Reports suggest talks are already underway, with Leipzig valuing their star frontman at around £70 million. But given United’s big-money move for Højlund just last year — a £72 million signing from Atalanta — eyebrows have been raised over how this transfer will play out.

One possible option? A swap deal involving Højlund. According to The Athletic, Leipzig are among several clubs interested in the Danish forward, who has yet to fully hit his stride at Old Trafford. However, such a deal would still require United to stump up additional cash, given that Højlund’s market value is now estimated at under £45 million, a steep drop in less than two seasons.

Despite the swirling speculation, Højlund himself remains defiant and determined to stay. Speaking confidently about his future, he said:

I think my plan is very clear, and that is for me to stay and fight for my spot, whatever happens. I’m still very young — only 22.

Not every striker is scoring 100 goals at this age like Erling Haaland. But I’ve learned a lot and you can see I’m improving. Pre-season has gone well, and I’m ready for any competition that come

His words appear to shut the door on a swap deal — unless United decide to cut their losses and cash in.

Šeško, for his part, is said to favor a move to Manchester United over Newcastle, but a transfer is still far from certain. Leipzig are demanding at least £65 million plus add-ons and a sell-on clause, making negotiations tricky.

If United are to make a serious offer, they may need to sell first. With Jadon Sancho, Antony, and even Alejandro Garnacho linked with exits, the club could raise significant funds to fund a Sesko swoop — without sacrificing Højlund in the process.
